How should we help those caught in sin?

As church members, we happen upon people who are in need all the time. People who are caught in sin. When that is the case what do you do? Do you sit in your pew? Do you remain silent in small group? Do you stay in the comfort of your home? Do you avoid the situation and wait for someone else to deal with it? Do you just hope that the person will find their own way out of their sin?
Do we even have a choice as to whether we are going to help a fellow church member who is caught in sin? Are we able to just walk off? What does God’s Word say?
